MORE DECISIONS
I thought of a presentation form and I remember the comment during last crit.. that I should think of put my work in magazine paper, but I decided to frame it because I was seriously thinking of the appropiate space for this type of work and I thought that framing in as of it would be in a gallary space would be good for this series because I wanted to make a statement that reached "them" people that go to galleries, museums dont have 12hr shifts...
Inspiration for the tittle!!
I came across another artist named Barbara Kruger.. She uses text in her work. The phrases included in her work are usually declarative, and make common use of such pronouns as "you", "I", "we", and "they". The juxtaposition of imagery and text containing criticism of sexism and the circulation of power within cultures is a recurring motif in Kruger's work. The text in her works of the 1980s includes such phrases as "Your comfort is my silence". So, after thinking and thinking I choose US IN THEIR SPACE"
Almost done!!
So, I overload the space with images but in my past work I been told that less is more, so I decides to merge clean, rich, spaces with people that seem to need a place like that be in but clearly not fit in that situation, even do the the space in with the people are in seems apropiate to their necessities.
Decision!!
After looking closely and identifying what I liked in the photmontages.. I thought of creating a series that involved my original idea.. to create not a reverse world but taking people and putting them in spaces that they would dream of being, which is a potitical statement that Im very interested in.
magazines!!
I went shopping for magazines for my project!!! I didn't know were to look so I thought of the liibrary... and it work ou!! I got a list of the local libraries.. and I went to 5 or six of them to get mazines that they might be selling... they have a section were the sell magazines for 10cents , some libraries even have the sorted by topics..
Inspiration

I looke at Hannah Hoch a german artist. Höch was a pioneer of the artform that became known as photomontage. Many of her pieces point out the faults of beauty culture, comparing reality to depictions of the 'neue frau' in magazines. Her works from 1926 to 1935 often depicted same sex couples, and women were once again a central theme in her work from 1963 to 1973. Höch also made strong statements on racial discrimination. Her ideas complemented mine and I felt I could take the photomontage process and began to narrow down the political statement I was trying to convey.
After that...

I thought of a media that could enhance the project idea.. and I thought of photomontage.. I thought of Dada in particular.. I did a little reasearch and read that, its purpose was to ridicule what its participants considered to be the meaninglessness of the modern world. In addition to being anti-war, dada was also anti-bourgeois and anarchistic in nature.Dada activities included public gatherings, demonstrations, and publication of art/literary journals; passionate coverage of art, politics, and culture were topics often discussed in a variety of media. The movement influenced later styles like the avant-garde and downtown music movements, and groups including surrealism, Nouveau réalisme, pop art, Fluxus and punk rock.
Official blogging day!!
I decided to post my process at once because its easier for me to narrate my process afterwards. The original idea was to create a reverse world. I created a maquette which would serve as the stage for the fake world I was trying to create. However, after a few conversations with Kyle we decided that my aproach towards this idea wasn't inovated enought and he made me think of the possobility of narrowing down the idea and think about the media I was chossing and how would that affect and benifit the message.
