Nikki S. Lee
After observing particular subcultures and ethnic groups, Nikki S. Lee adopts their general style and attitude through dress, gesture, and posture, and then approaches the group in her new guise. She introduces herself as an artist (though not everyone believes her or takes it seriously), and then spends several weeks participating in the group’s routine activities and social events while a friend or member of the group photographs her with an ordinary automatic “snapshot” camera. Lee maintains control of the final image, however, insofar as she chooses when to ask for a picture and edits what photographs will eventually be displayed.

i want to protest everything that is going on. i feel like i am not living up to the generation before us who fought for their social rights and the rights of others. i especially want to protest the god damn fucking conservative third party bullshit and their lack of descent humanitarian nut-job goals. if they only cared about preserving the quality of life for all, and less about the votes... we would all be better off. and that goes with furlough days... i cant stand feeling like anything can go when the "budget" is concerned... it makes me feel like life really isnt worth living. all we are here to do is feed into the mother american machine and feed it we shall. i would love to get a protest started. get some things going, become more of a activist... but then again i just sit here and cant really blame anyone because i am not doing anything about it... just like no one did anything about the furlough days. LET DOWNS are an obvious truth to our generation.
ReplyDeleteThere is something else I want to add to your very sincere statement, if you permit it.. silence is agreement my dear Karen, and I, like your self feel trapped in this "mother american machine" as you very well put it, but I agree with it since, I with shame must admit that also don't fight for what I belief in, with my silence I agree.Summing up my feellings towards this generation I must quote Ernesto "El Che" Guevarra... "greed and individual ambition at the expense of collective spirit.”
